Sun Basket Meal Delivery Service

One of my clients has me watch her teenagers and dogs when she needs to travel, so I'm trusted with parental duties from time to time. It is my job to get food on the table, which I really enjoy doing. This most recent time I had the pleasure of making dinner from Sun Basket, a meal delivery service that sends you all of the ingredients needed and detailed instructions in an ice-packed box, straight to your door. Easy. I didn't have to think at all- just follow directions.

And, follow directions I did! Two nights in a row I sliced, chopped, marinated, sautéed, and was quite pleased with the outcome. I'd say I cannot really say anything bad about my experience with this service, and according to the website, the price of each meal is relatively inexpensive compared to eating out at a restaurant that makes everything from scratch. Sun Basket delivers everything you need, even ingredients as small as a tablespoon, to make a creative dinner at home.

The first night we had grilled chicken tacos and I tried to document the process with photos along the way, starting with the box that arrives on your doorstep. Inside the box the three meals for the week were each in labeled paper bags. Empty the bag and find everything you need to get started.

The front of the recipe card said, "Packed with crunchy cabbage, radishes, sweet roasted red peppers, mildly spicy poblanos, and marinated chicken strips, these are not your average cantina-style tacos. The marinade of tomato paste, lime, and ground ancho chile helps the chicken caramelize as it cooks, adding color and flavor." I'd say all of that was true.

The second night I made a shrimp dish with tomatoes, garlic, and green beans. As I'm writing this review I visited the Sun Basket website and cannot easily find the recipe from last week, so I don't have the name of it for you. It was also good and easy to prepare, but was meager in the sense that it was just a handful of small shrimp, some vegetables, and almonds. I added rice noodles to it to make it a complete meal for the teenager and his friend that evening.
