Vitamix, an Essential Kitchen Appliance
By far the most used small appliance in our kitchen is the Vitamix. I purchased one for myself for my birthday in January 2010, and it's changed my life. Yes, I said that- a Vitamix blender changed my life.
First, let's just state the obvious. This incredibly high powered professional kitchen appliance reliably and quickly does whatever job you need. Period. No other blender is built like the Vitamix and, if you cook at home, you'll soon forget exactly how much you spent on the thing. Knowing I have such a quality tool in my home kitchen means I'm confident I can tackle almost any food prep I need, so that's been a "change" in my life.
More importantly, though, it's changed my eating habits which in turn helped me shed the 7 extra pounds I gained during the first 5 years I lived in Colorado. Over the past 6 years making vegetable smoothies in the Vitamix, I've kept them off, which feels great. I dramatically cut back on making fruit and yogurt smoothies and started drinking smoothies made of lettuce, celery, carrots, apples, beets, peppers... The list of ingredients might sounds gross to some, but I've been known to consume 8-10 different veggies in a single glass. The dramatic increase in the number of raw fruits and vegetables consumed has undoubtedly improved my life, helped me lose extra weight, and keeps me healthy.
I make nut butters with just plain nuts, the old fashioned way before palm oil came into our lexicon. Rice milk or almond milk are made with three ingredients (rice, water, vanilla or almonds, water, vanilla) and have no stabilizers or other crap added to give things a shelf life.
I'm a big fan, and if you hire me for help in your home, I'll gladly help make nutrient dense smoothies in your Vitamix for you to enjoy.
